EVENT INFO

Cycle Challenge

The 4th annual Gears and Beers community cycle challenge, conceived and run by the Rotary Club of Wollundry Wagga Wagga , will be held on Sunday, 1st October 2017.

Wagga Wagga is well known as an active community and we are proud to provide an event that promotes health, fitness and fun to all ages.

Our focus is on community participation; mums, dads, children, current cycle enthusiasts, beginners and business challenge participants.

Ride in a group, as an individual or with family and friends, then meet at the finish line (Victory Memorial Gardens) for an afternoon of live entertainment at our Beer & Cider Festival .

Craft Beer & Cider Festival

Our craft beer and cider festival has been created to meet the growing appreciation for the range of hand crafted beers and ciders produced right here in our region.

The combination of the cycle challenge, the craft beers and cider festival, outstanding locally roasted coffee, accompanied by great local food should make for an enjoyable afternoon.

Craft brewers are a passionate bunch and we want you to come and enjoy the fruits of their labour. Meet the brewers, let them educate you about what you are drinking, why it tastes the way it does and how it's brewed.

We are committed to bringing you the most innovative Independent craft brewers available.

Rapha Pilgrimage

It only takes one person, or pilgrim, to make a pilgrimage. But when many pilgrims make a pilgrimage together something happens. Friendships are formed and bonds are created by the conquering of each challenge that is encountered on that journey.

Leaving Melbourne in the days prior to the event, riders will cross Victoria and the Murray River before arriving in Wagga Wagga on Saturday the 30th September. Route information and details of this pilgrimage will be posted to our website shortly.

Rapha H-Van

The Rapha H-Van will be offering coffee to riders and festival goers throughout the day, and will be present from 4pm Saturday the 30th at the registration tent in the Victory Memorial Gardens.

“The gravel will treat you with indifference.

It has an innate tendency to bring riders together

who otherwise would never cross paths on the road.”

CYCLING COURSES

This year there will be 6 courses to choose from that all start and finish at the Victory Memorial Gardens (in the heart of Wagga Wagga).

Click on a course below to view detailed description, maps and elevation charts.

These selected routes will take you around some of the most picturesque spring countryside of Wagga Wagga and Coolamon, where you'll be surrounded by blooming canola fields and undulating farm land.

Family (of 4) discount – $50.00 (9km or 30km)

Event Objectives

In 2017, our objectives are straightforward:

  • Support local community charities and not-for-profit organisations in Wagga Wagga and the region by raising funds through this event
  • Raise over $50,000 from ride registrations and festival entry on the day of the event to donate to local charities
  • Attract over 1500 riders, and over 4000 festival attendees for the Gears and Beers Festival (Beer & Cider Festival)
  • Implement key priorities:
    • Adequate road marshals
    • Adequate rest stops
    • Adequate direction markers
    • Adequate volunteers
    • Your safety is our main concern  - this is an open road event and road rules apply
    • Most importantly - have fun!
